3 New Trends in Classroom Careers

3 New Trends in Classroom CareersMay 8th is National Teacher Day, and there's plenty to celebrate. Teachers uncover talent, inspire dreams, and help create futures. If you've ever thought about working in a classroom, you'll be glad to know that education degrees and teacher job options have never been more diverse. Here are some leads that might help you break into a teaching career:

New Areas to Teach
You don't have to love algebra to work as a teacher or public school professional. Local schools also need reading teachers, vocational teachers, and elective subject teachers (e.g. high school art teachers). Some professionals may be able to transition into teaching, using their career experience in another field - like carpentry, plumbing, cosmetology, or general business.

New Routes to Teaching
Some new teachers are preparing for state licensure through fully online degree programs. Student teaching requirements still need to be completed in person, but many online schools help students find local placements.

New Teacher Demographics Wanted
America's classrooms are increasingly diverse. Students need teachers who represent different races and ethnicities. More male teachers are also needed. Some states offer financial aid opportunities to qualifying minority students who intend to work as public school teachers. For more informational about general financial aid...
