 An intelligent pump controller earned an Innovation Award from the UK's Institute of Water Welsh Area. The controller calculates the time remaining before a spill, warning operators to take action. Additionally, an alarm compares optimum pump efficiency with measured rate of change to identify a possible burst main or to warn of a blocked pump.

 Called an "entirely new generation of intelligent wastewater samplers," Hydrocell systems from Pulsonic Technologies feature high-torque OEM pumps selected in part due to their lift capability. Sliding Vane Pumps Push Paint Solvents
 Designed to load, transfer, and unload solvents, which move paint pigment and binder from the container to the workpiece surface, a new pump features an integral head-mounted gear-reduction drive. To simplify pump and reducer alignment, a splined reducer can be rotated on the pump head. A symmetrical ball-bearing gear-shaft support promotes even loading and smooth operation.

Pulp Manufacturer's Power-smart Pump Project
 A 1960s vintage oversized slurry pump at a Canadian pulp-manufacturing facility was dissipating excess pressure as heat and vibration, leading to numerous maintenance headaches. Replacing the oversized 200 hp pump motor with a 150-hp model and adding a variable-frequency drive are saving the plant 800 MWh of electricity per year.

Among the challenges to developing the system: the hydraulic motor-driven pump set had to utilize the ship's own hydraulic supply to power the ultra-high-pressure pump.
