We are lost in the jungle of data, and we still don’t have the right answers. I made a comprehensive guide for you including foods that make you healthy or sick, as well as what kind of supplements and herbs will help you to achieve and keep your optimal health.

The main problem today in patient care is that we are concentrating mostly on symptomatic treatments. We don’t really know how to achieve and to keep good health. We have much information in the form of books and on the internet, but as many opinions are out there; they’re all different from each other. Who should we believe, what should we eat and how should we live to stay healthy?
Admittedly, developing the right nutrition can be overwhelming. We don’t want to measure in percentages, ounces and calories. Who wants to sit down to the dinner table with a calculator in hand? Most nutritionists will give you a scientific explanation about fiber, protein and carbohydrate percentages that sounds like gibberish, when you’re just simply wanted to eat foods that are good for you. Who wants to go through charts and calculations? Moreover, if everyone eats the same foods, are those foods are good for everyone like the one size fits all bathrobes?
Just imagine, how much easier our lives would be if we were born with a ‘user guide or owner’s manual’ which could tell us what to eat and how to live healthy.
We buy a TV or washing machine, they come with instructions as to what to plug in and where. We get instructions with our cars on what kind of gasoline or oils to use. What if we would know what to eat and how to live from the moment we were born in order to be healthy? A wise question and there are some answers, we just have to pay attention to our bodies.
In my opinion, we each were born with a kind of unique blueprint, which dictates our physical shape, psychological character as well as our specific needs to stay healthy. Nature has built ‘instructions’ into each of us to know what is good and what is bad for us, but we lose this information as we develop and grow exposed to outside influences.
Foods we like and dislike. Is there any connection between not liking certain foods that are not really good for you? Is your body reminding you of what you need and don’t need? I never liked aged cheese. Something in their smell and taste prevented me from enjoying them, but when I was a kid I ate them because of my mother’s constant nagging. There were other foods as well which I just simply didn’t like. As an adult, I eliminated all the disliked foods from my diet such as aged cheese, liver, dark chocolate, cherries, foods made with MSG and salamis, cold cuts, pepperoni and sausages, and I realized that my frequent migraine headaches had stopped. Later I experimented with those foods one at the time, and all of them turned out to be my trigger foods for migraine.
Looking at our physiology, it is interesting to think about why certain types of people develop respiratory, circulatory or muscular skeletal disease. Some people are neurotic, depressed, or they develop gastrointestinal problems or prone to respiratory infections.
Is there a method to prevent some diseases and conditions from developing? Some people have joint problems and pains all their life, along with gallbladder problems. Others suffer with heartburn and stomach ulcers.
Is it possible to prevent or cure these conditions with diet, the right nutrition and lifestyle? In my studies I developed and idea that we are programmed with the perceptibility for type specific diseases that given the right circumstances, we will develop.
Can we change the circumstances to our advantage to prevent the development of these conditions? I asked. I tried a few things. My type usually develops gastric problems, ulcers, high cholesterol and migraines. Implementing little changes in my diet, adding certain foods or eliminating others, my digestion became regular. I didn’t have heartburn or bloating anymore. When my cholesterol level started to climb, again with some changes I got it to the right level. Eliminating some foods from my diet, I stopped the migraines. Furthermore, I started working in an emergency room, where you never know what slams through the door; faces and conditions are changing all the time. That high stress job was my element, and I felt healthier and happier working there than anywhere else.
It proved to me that if we get the right nutrition, do the right job and activities for our personality, we can prevent diseases and live a healthy and satisfied life. The facts fell into place after the long years spent with studying anatomy, physiology, different natural healing methods and considering my own experiences.
After years of study and observation, I sat down to organize my notes and slowly I put two and two together. The puzzle pieces fell into place. I formed my opinion about the simplified, three different types of people. In my opinion type one is stocky in build, dependable, and calm in nature. Usually they develop circulatory and respiratory illnesses. The second type is athletic, logical and usually develops digestive problems. The third is the artistic wanderer who is prone to among other things, depression.
Can we learn to use our abilities and weaknesses to our advantage? We certainly can. The abilities are built into us, we just have to discover them and use them. We can learn how to develop our positive traits, and lessen the negative ones. We can learn what we need to do to achieve optimal health, to prevent certain diseases, and how to live happy and satisfied lives.
Reading the type specific ‘user guide’, you can find out my opinion about what kind of foods are to your advantage or disadvantage, what kind of lifestyle, exercise, work and nutrition is the best for you. These recommendations are not intended to change you into someone else. They simply reveal to you the instincts you have lost, and show you what nature intended you to do to stay healthy with the right diet, lifestyle and nutrition.
In the type specific chapters when you glance at the recommended food table, you can see which foods are good for your type and which are the ones that might create imbalance and make you feel sick and unsatisfied. Each type of people requires different nutrition and supplements as well as different herbs to prevent potential illnesses that each type tends to develop. First take a look at the introduction of the three different types. Reading the descriptions you will have a pretty good idea of which type fits you the best.
Besides the comprehensive diet supplement, vitamin and herb recommendations for each type of people, you will find in this book the role vitamins play to keep you healthy as well as symptoms of deficiency and overdose of vitamins. To prevent and treat type specific diseases, you will find a list of useful herbs as well as their side effects and possible interactions with prescription medications.
In the natural detox chapter you can learn about foods, herbs and spices that help you to detox your body naturally, without dangerous or even painful detox methods.
In the bizarre symptoms chapter you will find out what can cause your nails to be spoon or hourglass shaped as well as what kind of disease your body is prone to if you have very skinny lower legs.
I don’t like to read educational books that overwhelm me with statistics and basic information that are known to everybody. Sometimes it makes me feel that the author is insulting my intelligence with unnecessary explanations and page filling blah-blah, therefore I tried to put this book together without making you skim trough 200 pages before you find the information that you’re interested in. In this book I compiled information from some of my previously published ebooks such as 'Bizarre symptoms', “Detox and protect your body', Healing herbs for the respiratory, digestive and nervous systems.'Very few people take the time to write comments about non-fiction books, therefore I was pleased about the reviews that my readers left at various websites.
Review about ‘Keep your body healthy’ “This book by Alternative medicine practitioner - Erika Szabo, is the best all-around book of advice for improving one’s health naturally that I have read. I found her detailed studies on the three basic body types for males and females, extremely interesting, and her recommendations for healthy diet and natural supplements for each category highly informative. Her advice is well-studied and written in terms that the average reader will appreciate and that can be put into practice for improved health and for maintaining a healthier quality of life. Her supplement recommendations are so well thought-out, that she even adds a warning in regard to those who take thyroid hormones, who might also consider supplementing with kelp - a high iodine supplement that can cause an increase of thyroid hormone production. This is just one example of the important details included in the book. It is ideal reading for those who have made resolutions to improve their health, but without a solid plan for doing so. This manual is 'a solution to the resolution' and I highly recommend it as an essential read for better health naturally.” - James Lowrance, author of health related educational books.
Review about ‘Healing herbs for the respiratory system’ “This book 'Healing herbs' by Erika M. Szabo ND, is truly amazing because she has gone to the extent of researching the interactions these often very helpful herbs can have when combined with prescribed pharmaceutical treatments. In many natural and alternative treatments books I have read this element is missing, but this author has demonstrated respect for her readers in adding these types of precautions. Her lists of herbs that can have healing effects on respiratory illnesses, is quite comprehensive and readers, who use them, taking any precautions she lists for them, can expect positive results. I personally have always been a believer in the healing effects of natural and alternative treatments such as herbals, but I have also recognized that prescribed medications are sometimes a necessity as well. I feel Erika’s book has struck a very nice balance between conventional-medical and alternative-herbal treatments for common respiratory illnesses in this well-written book.” - James Lowrance.
Review about ‘Detox and protect your body’ “This book is to-the-point and contains sound information on how we can detox our bodies over time, through proper diet and healthy lifestyle changes. As author and alternative medicine practitioner Erika Szabo ND assures the reader, no radical detox suggestions are found in this book, but rather ones that can actually be enjoyed if faithfully practiced. I found the descriptions of health detoxifying foods very interesting in regard to their colors and shapes that can also tell us the health values we can derive from consuming them. While the book is a short one, it contains everything one needs to begin the detox process and to maintain it for a longer and better quality of life.” by James Lowrance.
Review about Detox and protect your body. “If anyone is in need of detox, this is it - I said detox, not rehab. What I liked about this little book is that Erika relates the shapes and appearances of food to their function in the body, which really helps me remember what I should eat for what. I also like that she gives foods for each major organ in the body. I never knew that there was a food for my testicles before (not that it matters much anymore). For the money, this book packs some good information into a short space.” - Mr. Lehr.
Review about ‘Bizarre symptoms’ “I sat in amazement reading this book, because I found many unusual symptoms related to health disorders and nutritional deficiencies that I had never been aware of. It was fascinating to know that symptoms of illnesses can manifest in practically every area of the body, including in the earlobes and the eyelids. I also found the descriptions by author - Erika M. Szabo ND, regarding food cravings that can reveal health conditions and deficiencies to be extremely interesting. I really enjoyed this book, which was well-researched and with symptoms lists nicely formatted for easy reading.” - James Lowrance.
