Now that our house smells thoroughly like gingerbread, the holidays have officially arrived! Why not celebrate electronically with a couple of neat Windows 7 holiday themes from Microsoft?

Hi, George. I’m glad you asked. Your question actually gave me the opportunity to look up autocorrect options on Word 2010, to which I am still fairly new.
What you’re talking about here is called replacing fractions with a fraction character. In Word 2010, click on the “File” tab and then “Options”, like so:
When the options screen opens, click on “proofing” and then “AutoCorrect Options” thusly:
Finally, in the resulting Window, click on the “AutoFormat as You Type” tab, and then check the box labelled “Replace Fractions With Fraction Characters” and you’re all done.
In my Word 2010, this option was selected by default.
Windows Live Mail seems to be a little trickier. I don’t use the program, myself, but used Outlook once upon a time. I know that in Outlook there was an option to use Word as your text editor, and when you enabled that, all of your Word options automatically came into play when you typed an e-mail. I searched Windows Live Mail and the internet and found no reference to it. There’s a place to put entries into a custom dictionary, but seems to have no option for inserting fraction characters. So I’m stymied on answering this for Windows Live Mail. If anyone else knows, please drop the answer into the comments.

HDR photography
Traveling is all about celebrating the differences. And what”s the fun if you haven”t captured all those visits for posterity? Here is where Trey Ratcliff does it with High Dynamic Range photography. If HDR is sounding like Spanish to you, he also has an award-winning HDR tutorial on his site, to make it within your reach. The result is a hyper-realistic, almost dreamlike picture like his pictures seen on his site, Stuckincustoms.com. His images are represented by Getty Images and he has been featured on the BBC. No wonder, this site has become the #1 travel photography blog on the internet with around 350,000 visits per month, including one from Trey”s mom.

Hunch is a very interesting site. It is basically a recommendation tool, and it gets smarter or more in tune with your preferences as you use it. In order for it to get to know you’ll have sign up for an account, but you can use it as is without an account.
To register, you’ll need to click the Sign In link, and then click the Create Account link. Now you’ll be on the registration form where you will create a username and password, as well as, provide and e-mail address and then click the Create My Account button. This will automatically sign you in and you can start teaching Hunch your preferences.
I recommend checking out the FAQ, it answers a lot of the basic questions that I could come up with and I found it helpful.
For those of you who don’t want to register you can type something in the search field that you would like to get a recommendation about, or just type in a question and see what it comes up with.
But once you’ve taken the plunge and signed up, after you sign in Hunch will start asking you questions to get to know you. For example, it will show you a series of images and you pick the one you like the best. I found this to be amazingly fun, and interesting that it would reveal something about me. Okay, they might be slightly addicting to answer.
This a great site to open up your horizons with, you’ll never know what they might recommend until you try it out.
For example, I’m looking for a new headset. I’ve broke my Logitech gaming set, and I don’t want to get the same pair because I’ve already replaced this style once. So I type in gaming headphones, and a plethora of topics came up for me to check out.
