THE SETPOINT:
Walled Garden or Open Field?, by John Berra
There is thoughtful debate over the best approach to automation in a fully digital world. Some argue for moving the walls out to include everything; others argue for the complete demolition of all walls.
In his biography of Steve Jobs, Walter Isaacson describes one of the major strategic battles of the personal computer business. PINTO’S PROSE:
Automation Innovation Paradigms, by Jim Pinto

In the automation business few companies originate radically new technology to generate growth; usually, commercial technology is adapted for industrial needs. The two largest segments of industrial measurement & control systems-Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)—were 1970's era developments but give hints of the future... Read more
